Silver Lines (Poem)

My skies have been crowded with heavy, dark clouds.

They shut out the sun, casting a cold, lonely shadow.

It feels like it has been an eternity since I’ve seen the light.

I yearn to feel the warm sunshine on my skin again.

And as the saying goes “Every cloud has a silver lining, so look on the bright side.”

But sometimes those silver lines cut like blades of glass.

Are my bloody hands worth holding on?
