White Carnations by Lois "Steaming" Rainbow

White petals blow in the breeze of the coming storm. I lay the flowers at the base of the stone. Carnations are all I could get.

I kneel and wonder if anyone sits at his grave. Your killer’s, I mean. Does anyone mourn his death?

I haven’t seen anyone at the trials weeping. Would I pity them if I did? Probably not.

Even so, the judge said I could visit one last time.

I miss you…

A tear falls from my cheek as the guards lift me to my feet.

…and don’t worry. I got him. I got him good.

Lois started writing 100 word stories a little over a decade ago, after being inspired by another writer they met through NaNoWriMo. (Shout out to Neil Murton.) Born in the swamps of Louisiana, Lois crawled out finding ways to escape reality and live in their imagination. Writing has always played a part in that. When they're not writing, Lois loves to immerse themself in all kinds of suspenseful and thrilling media, from books to video games, while cuddling their two dogs, Daisy and Leia.
