Spring (Poem)

The snow lazily melts,

Revealing the dormant soul of the earth below.

The grass slowly begins to revive to life,

Dry and brown to green and lush.

Tender, pea-colored shoots of plants,

Peek up through the dirt and the grime.

Unfurling and blooming in time.

The sun’s rays provide soft warmth once more.

The squirrels come down from their nests to explore.

In a tree budding with leafy life,

The lilting song the cardinal does sing,

Heralds the arrival of spring.
