Closer (Poem)

You break me down,

Crash through my defenses,

Come,

Let me take you down,

Down, beneath my armor,

Beneath my protection,

Let me show you my insides,

So real, so raw,

Let me show you my heart,

So red, so tender,

Fluttering like a bird in a cage,

Frantic for freedom,

Fearful of the unknown,

You pull me to your chest,

Hold me there gently,

I am a fragile thing.

Will you be my safety?

Will you set me free?

Will I be yours?
